Domestic Assistance provides help with housework to enable you to live independently and safely in your own home. You can get help with everyday tasks such as vacuuming and washing floors, dusting, dishwashing, cleaning kitchen benches and cupboards, cleaning out the fridge, washing and ironing, and cleaning wet areas such as the toilet and bathroom.  We can assist with your normal everyday tasks whatever they may be.  We can also assist you with looking after your pet, whether it is taking the dog for a walk, arranging grooming and preparing meals. Elderly people throughout the country are finding they need more than a clean bed, a friendly support worker and companionship.     Dogs, cats, birds, and fish are becoming integral parts of their lives. People need to be needed and animals need people. There have been hundreds of research articles published on the benefits of pet therapy for the older person. Here are a few of those benefits: Multiple studies have stated the  benefits such as improved mood and more social interaction — notable benefits as people with dementia and some are at risk for developing depression, which can further compromise their functioning and quality of life.  In a study published in 2008, psychologists observed a calming effect that having a pet brings. Other studies have shown that having a pet significantly lower blood pressure levels. Research has also  revealed many benefits, some of which may include: Decreased blood pressure and stress, improved communication and reminiscence. Pets may motivate and encourage the elderly to stay healthy and exercise, giving them a feeling of being ‘needed’. Motor skills may improve with the assistance of having a pet.
